ATARI Bringing Back Classic Horror Games to PC

aitd1us

Atari has announced their plans to bring two of their most popular horror games back to the PC this fall in reimagined forms. “Alone in the Dark” and “Haunted House” will be hitting PC later this year as well as be on display at PAX Prime on August 29-31.

“Alone in the Dark” was originally released on PC back in 1992. It was the first in a long running set of games in the survival horror genre. Most recently, the installment of the same name was released in 2008 on PC, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 2, and Wii. Apparently it didn’t fare so well as IGN called it “awful.” The upcoming reimagining has little information at the moment other than a teaser site. What we do know is that it will be called “Alone in the Dark: Illumination.”

“Haunted House” is known as being one of the earliest incarnations of the survival horror genre. It brought terror and thrills to audiences before they knew they wanted that in a game. In 2010 we got the most recent installment in the series for PC, Wii, and Xbox 360. Its upcoming new release also has a teaser site that does not like to give us very much information.

Currently, both sites do allow you to sign up for email updates about the games.
