Destiny Beta Characters Won’t Transfer to Full Game

Bungie has confirmed that the character you spent all that time (at least up until level 8) working on in the “Destiny” beta will not transfer over once the full game is released.

Whether this is a good thing or a bad thing is a personal opinion really and besides let’s be honest, most of us were going to start a new character anyway once the retail version comes out.

According to Tyson Green, Bungie designer, there is a much more technical reason behind the data wipe occurring between the beta and the game release. He said,

“The way you earn experience has been adjusted up and down a bunch of times. Items have been added and removed. New features toggled,” Green wrote in a Bungie news post. “Although there’s no single monumental change, the sum of the tweaks leaves characters from the Beta Build in strange shape that would be confusing at best, broken at worst.”

The good news is that the plan remains to have your character transfer over to “Destiny” sequels in the future.

“Destiny” releases on September 9.
