“Black Mirror” Picked Up For Third Season by Netflix

By on October 3, 2015

“Black Mirror” is one of the best science fiction anthology shows out there and Netflix realizes that too. The series that predicts our darkest and most dangerous technological advances and fears into hour episodes is being picked up by the streaming service.

The first two seasons of “Black Mirror” premiered and broadcasted on Channel 4 in the UK and each featured only 3 episodes. There was also a Christmas Special that aired in 2014. However, the third season has been picked up by Netflix and will featured an impressive 12 episodes.

Season 3 will premiere on Netflix air in 2016 but there is no date of when. Co-creators Charlie Brooker and Annabel Jones will stay on as the show’s executive producers.

“It’s all very exciting — a whole new bunch of Black Mirror episodes on the most fitting platform imaginable,” said Brooker. “I just hope none of these new story ideas come true.”

Along with the upcoming third season, Robert Downey Jr. has optioned one of those episodes, “The Entire History of You,” for adaptation into a feature film and may move forward with it via Warner Bros.
