FX doesn’t shy away from the gratuitious or taboo in many of their popular shows and their upcoming series is really taking that to heart. “Taboo” from Ridley Scott and starring Mad Max: Fury Road star Tom Hardy is an eight episode series based on an original story by Hardy and his father, Chips Hardy. Steven Knight (Peaky Blinders)created the series, which FX picked up in November of 2014.
“Taboo” is a period drama taking place in 1813. It follows rogue adventurer Keziah Delaney (Hardy) who has returned from Africa bearing 14 ill-gotten diamonds. Delaney, driven by a need for vengeance over the death of his father, has refused to sell his family’s business to the East India Company, putting a target on his back. Setting out to build his own trade and shipping empire, Delany finds himself in the middle of a very deadly game.
You can watch the first teaser trailer for this brutally bloody drama from 17th century England below. It looks to be intense and thrilling and as usual Hardy will be dangerously compelling.
