The BBC has officially announced that the fourth season of “Sherlock” is actually happening and it is on it’s way so so so soon! Sherlock season four will premiere on January 1, 2017.
The fourth season premiere episode is titled ” The Six Thatchers” and is actually the first new episode of Sherlock since the hit series’ 2015 Christmas special, “The Abominable Bride.” Even wore, the fourth season is premiering nearly two years after the end of the show’s third season.
The premiere appears to be referencing Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s 1904 short story “The Adventure of the Six Napoleons. Though in the episode they will surely swap the French revolutionary with a more recent political figure. The original story follows Holmes and Watson as they investigate a series of crimes tied to smashed statues. You can read the full text by clicking here.
“Sherlock” is written and created by Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss, and inspired by the works of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Sherlock is produced by Sue Vertue, and the executive producers are Beryl Vertue, Mark Gatiss and Steven Moffat for Hartswood Films, Bethan Jones for BBC Cymru Wales and Rebecca Eaton for Masterpiece. It is distributed internationally by BBC Worldwide.
The Sherlock season four premiere is also coming to Masterpiece on PBS in 2017.
We’ve all waited patiently for so long for the next episode of BBC’s “Sherlock.” While the next season is still a while away, we at least get a Christmas special this year and last week it released the first clip.
The “Sherlock’ Christmas special literally has everything you could want, Sherlock wearing the iconic hat from the book series, Watson references “The Hound of the Baskervilles” and it is set in a Victorian London. It is pretty fantastic. Showrunner Steven Moffatt and the other creators have said that they liked this episode so much that they briefly considered moving forward with the show as a Victorian period piece.
The special is hitting theaters this December as well as television sets around the world. If we ever get a fourth season, Moffatt has said that it will, “suckerpunch you into emotional devastation.” That sounds rough and I don’t like what he is implying.
Regardless, you can watch the “Sherlock” Christmas special clip below.
BBC has officially released the first photo from the upcoming “Sherlock” special which can’t get here fast enough. The special is meant to tide us over between the third and fourth season. You can see the photo above.
The photo was released via the BBC One Twitter account. The features Sherlock and Watson portrayed by Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman, respectively. Despite the show being set in modern-day, the photo shows our main character in period attire and Watson still sporting the annoying mustache.
Unfortunately the Christmas Special won’t air until next year and Season 4 won’t grace us until 2016. Our lives are so hard.
Unfortunately BBC is not breaking tradition with the next season “Sherlock.” The series has notoriously taken LONG breaks in-between seasons and the same will happen with season 4. But at least we are getting a fourth season, right?
The BBC officially announced that they will begin filming a Christmas special and season 4 during 2015. This is good news and bad news. It means we will likely get the Christmas special in 2015 but season 4 won’t wire until 2016.
We can blame the long break partly on the popularity of stars Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman. Executive producer Sue Vertue pointed out that “It’s taken a little while to get the dates sorted as none of the boys are exactly sitting back twiddling their thumbs but there was unanimous goodwill to make this work, so we’re thrilled that 221b is going to be inhabited again.”
Steven Moffat commented on the events of the season 3 finale and what it means for season 4,
“Of course, it’s far too early to say what’s coming, but we’re reasonably confident that the very next thing to happen to Sherlock and John, is the very last thing you’d expect…”
Season 3 is SO so close. To tease fans even more before the premiere, BBC, has released a new 7 minute prequel for the third season of “Sherlock.”
In the prequel, called “Many Happy Returns,” has Sherlock gone for two years. But someone isn’t quite convinced that he’s dead. #SherlockLives.
Series 3 will premiere on BBC One on January 1st with “The Empty Hearse.”
The third season will kick-off in the States on January 19th on PBS. After the New Year’s Day premiere, the second episode will air on Sunday, January 5th, followed by the third and final part on Sunday, January 12th. Those episodes are titled “The Sign of Three” and “His Last Vow.”
This weekend saw the huge milestone event of BBC’s “The Day of the Doctor,” 50th Anniversary special of the longest running science fiction series, “Doctor Who.” The special aired in more than 94 countries and was shown in over 1500 theaters worldwide. Taking advantage of this worldwide event, BBC featured three teasers for their most popular shows, The Doctor Who Christmas Special, “Orphan Black” season 2, and “Sherlock” season 3.
The third season of “Sherlock” is premiering on January 19 while the second season of “Orphan Black” will premiere on April 19th.
FINALLY. PBS has officially announced the date that “Sherlock” will be returning to grace our eyeballs. Fans and myself have been anxiously awaiting season 3 of the series that stars Chiseled Cheekbones and Bilbo Baggins, also known as Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman, respectively. “Sherlock” will be premiering on Sunday, January 19 at 10 p.m. ET.
It feels like forever since the cliffhanger of season 2 left most of the fandom with gaping mouths. The long gap between season 2 and three was due to the demanding schedules of the show’s lead stars. Cumberbatch was attached to film Star Trek into Darkness while Freeman was working on Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit. Also causing the delay was co-creator Steven Moffat’s Doctor Who duties as the show’s 50th Anniversary neared.
Season 3. January 19th, 2014. Will be here before you know it, right??
It is like a dream come true in the casting world. “Doctor Who” and “Sherlock” actor/writer Mark Gatiss has been added the cast of my other favorite show, “Game of Thrones.” Gatiss is set to appear in the upcoming fourth season of the HBO series however his specific role has not yet been released.
