Star Wars: Battlefront 2 Multiplayer Will Survive Gamespy Shutdown

By on May 9, 2014

Despite the close of GameSpy, “Star Wars: Battlefront 2” multiplayer will remain. It was originally reported on the official Steam page that the game would end on May 31, however, Scott Kevill has said that the game will continue to be available via GameRanger.

Kevill said on Reddit,

“People are already playing it just fine on GameRanger, and will continue to after May 31. I’ve already simulated it with GameSpy blocked and cut-off.”

The shutdown of GameSpy is scheduled for May 31. The third-party company is used by hundreds of publishers and developers who are now scrambling to deal with the news. EA is “working on finding a transition,” and Rockstar is patching “specific” older titles.

A full list of games affected by the GameSpy closure can be found on GameSpy’s tech website.
